From the moment of our first visit with the initial evaluation, till the day the braces were removed, we were greeted with such warmth and friendliness by Dr. Dennis and her entire staff. Absolutely everything was effortless on our part, even when we needed to call with emergency visits - everyone was so incredibly accommodating. Education and Training Dr. Suzanne Dennis received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Medical College of Virginia's School of Dentistry. In addition to dental school, she also completed a postdoctoral program at the Medical College of Virginia and received a Masters degree in Orthodontics from Marquette University to complete her training. She completed her undergraduate degree at Longwood College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is Board Certified and has been the recipient of many academic awards and achievements. As a mother of two boys, Dr. Dennis brings the loving attention of a mother to her practice. Office visits are attended to with her personal attention and supervision. Dr. Dennis is a native Virginian who has been a practicing orthodontist in Charlottesville since 1998. She grew up in Virginia Beach and knew early on that she wanted to be a dentist. After 11 years of higher education to become an orthodontist and graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI she know she wanted to move back to Virginia. Loving both the ocean and the mountains, Charlottesville seemed an obvious choice. About living in Charlottesville Dr. Dennis says: "I enjoy all the opportunities that living in a diverse city like Charlottesville has to offer. I can go skiing in the winter and I am in driving distance of the blue ridge parkway and the beach in the summer. I can hike one of the many local trials or paddle my kayak on the reservoir. Whether it be to go see live music or theater, visit a museum or take a historical tour I enjoy the many cultural opportunities here as well. Charlottesville is also a great place to raise my family. As the mother of two boys, a fuzzy rag doll cat, and an 8lb Papillon dog, I appreciate the many family oriented activities in Charlottesville." About Herself I really enjoy what I do and hope that it shows. At my office I have tried to create an environment that is both comfortable and fun. I have surrounded myself with people I enjoy spending my working days with and who are excellent at what they do. With so much of my time spent here at the office I feel that it is important to make this a pleasant place to be. But the best part of my job is seeing what a difference I have made in my patients and their families lives. That's what keeps me going and one of the reasons I became an orthodontist in the first place.. There's no reason why high quality orthodontic treatment shouldn't also be enjoyable. Traditional Braces

Silver braces are available in fun shapes for the front teeth. They come in hearts, stars, soccer balls, flowers and footballs.

Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, using a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. You wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position Dr. dennis has prescribed. You'll visit Dr. Dennis about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
How does Invisalign work? Dr. Dennis will utilize 3D computer imaging technology to demonstrate the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position. This imaging technology is then used to design an individualized series of custom-made aligners. The patient wears the aligner for about two weeks while the teeth move incrementally. After two weeks, the current aligner is replaced with the next one until the final position is achieved. What do aligners look like? Aligners are clear and nearly invisible. If you've ever seen clear tooth-whitening trays, that should give you a good idea of what the aligners look like. Invisalign aligners are custom-made to fit and move your teeth. Will the treatment be painful? Each time you change to a new aligner, there may be some temporary discomfort while your teeth adjust to their new position. This is completely normal, and is a good sign that the treatment is working.
Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech? Some people are affected more than others, but most adjust in a short period of time to the feeling of the aligners and do not have permanent changes in their speech. How often will I have to wear my aligners? Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners. It's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.

I have had braces for about eight months. I have noticed a big difference in my smile. Also I had a lower tooth that really bothered me. I had people actually notice it. It is now much better. I was unable to have orthodontic treatment as a child. After seeing the problems my mom went through with her bite, I decided that treatment would be beneficial to me as an adult. So don't think it is ever too late. I am so impressed. I have looked at the before photos and with having a cross bite and some crowding I didn't think I would be able to tell much of a difference. WOW! Was I so ever wrong - big difference! Dr. Dennis and her team have been great at everything.
